Beats Over Billionaires – Pass the Overpaid CEO Tax in SF
A note from our Founder & CEO, Gina Mariko Rosales:
I started Make It Mariko in 2015 because I believed San Francisco’s creative communities deserved to be celebrated, resourced, and seen. Ten years later, I still believe that. I also know that The City we love is under real pressure.
Budget cuts.
Rising costs.
Nonprofits we love are struggling to survive and continue the necessary work they do for the community.
Federal funding is disappearing. At the same time, the wealthiest corporations in the world are headquartered right here in the Bay Area, and are paying CEOs hundreds of times what their workers make 😠
Prop D – the Overpaid CEO Tax – asks those corporations to contribute more to the city that has made them rich.
Prop D could generate up to $300 million a year for public services, city employees, and the communities that keep SF alive and weird.
Prop C, on the other hand, exists for one reason: to kill Prop D. It was funded by billionaires and backed by Uber, Google, and Amazon. Don’t let them win ‼️
As a small business that advocates on behalf of other small businesses, artists, and community orgs every day, we stand firmly for Yes on D, No on C on June 2nd.
This campaign – Beats Over Billionaires – is our call to the nightlife, music, and creative event community to show up and vote.
Grab a flyer. Share the post. Bring a friend with you to the polls.
This city shaped us. Let’s fight for it.

BEATS OVER BILLIONAIRES 🎶
SF’s nightlife, music, and creative communities have always been the heartbeat of this city. But when corporations and their overpaid CEOs keep concentrating wealth at the top, it’s our venues, our artists, and our neighbors who pay the price.
📣 PROP D – the Overpaid CEO Tax – makes corporations pay more when they massively over-compensate their executives while everyday San Franciscans struggle. It could bring in up to $300 million a year to fund public services, city employees, and the communities that make SF worth living in ‼️
📣 PROP C was put on this ballot by billionaires and corporations — Uber, Google, Amazon — specifically to kill Prop D. If both pass, the one with more votes wins. That means a Yes on D only works if we also vote No on C. Don’t let them game the system 😠
Vote ✅ YES on D. 🚫 No on C on June 2nd.
Show up for the city that shaped you.
Keep SF Weird 🖤
