The Client
Minted SF is a free, all-ages summer event series activating Mint Plaza in San Francisco every Friday from July through September. The series celebrates local culture, creativity, and community by featuring live music, DJ sets, and curated food offerings from neighborhood restaurants. Make it Mariko partnered with Kultivate Labs to produce an engaging, safe, and seamless experience that highlighted the city’s cultural vibrancy while supporting local businesses and artists.
Goals & Challenges
The goal was to create a recurring, high-energy event that could accommodate diverse audiences from families to nightlife-goers while running in an open public space in the heart of the city. Key challenges included coordinating multiple vendors and performers weekly, ensuring public safety and accessibility, and creating a cohesive experience that highlighted both music and local food culture.
Summer Fridays in the Heart of San Francisco
WHAT WE DID:
Make it Mariko led full operations, production, branding, and marketing for the eight-week series. We handled all aspects of site planning and logistics, including stage setup, sound, lighting, and vendor placement. We coordinated with city authorities, vendors, food partners, and performers to ensure each event ran smoothly and complied with all permitting and safety regulations.
Our team designed the visual identity and branding for the series, creating cohesive graphics, signage, and digital assets that reflected the energy and vibrancy of MINTED SF. We also developed marketing strategies and campaigns, including social media content, email promotion, and event materials, to drive awareness and attendance each week.
On-site, we managed load-in and load-out for performers, food vendors, and production equipment, supervised volunteer teams, and ensured clear signage and wayfinding throughout Mint Plaza. Our team provided event-day management including stage coordination, crowd flow, and troubleshooting, making each Friday a polished and engaging experience for attendees.
