About Make It Mariko

Make It Mariko is an award-winning creative events agency based in San Francisco, proudly led by women of color. We curate magical, meaningful experiences designed to inspire, uplift, and connect communities. 

We are committed to curating creative, inclusive, and diverse spaces in the events industry to challenge the status quo and pave the way for a new generation of event experience curators. Our company was founded in 2015 by veteran Event Producer and former Google X Head of Marketing Events, Gina Mariko Rosales. 

We do Experience Design, Planning & Production for:

  • Brand Activations & Launch Campaigns
  • Corporate & Community Conferences
  • Corporate Leadership Summits
  • Community Festivals (like UNDISCOVERED SF, our flagship event)
  • Special Events (Holiday Parties, Milestone Birthdays, etc)
  • Social Impact Events

About the Internship

This Fall 2025-26 internship is designed for one dedicated intern to gain hands-on experience in event planning while also developing their own original event concept.

You will work 10-15 hours/week from our SoMa studio, and this work will include:

  • Working on one key Make It Mariko project
  • Developing your own event concept which includes receiving 1:1 coaching with CEO & Executive Producer, Gina Mariko Rosales. By the end of the internship, you will leave with a full event concept package that you will create with coaching support from Gina including:
    • Pitch Deck
    • Production Budget
    • Target Vendor List
    • A complete, industry-standard framework to pitch or produce your own event.
  • Working on the Make It Mariko 10-year Anniversary Party to take place at the end of January 2026. You will be paid for your day of event hours for this particular event. 

**Value of coaching & consulting: $4000

Intern Duties & Learning Opportunities:

You’ll learn, practice, and apply core skills in:

EVENT PLANNING & PRODUCTION
  • Vendor outreach, proposals, and coordination
  • Budget creation and management
  • Pitch deck design & client presentations
  • Day-of event logistics and coordination
  • Event inventory management and process creation

CLIENT MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATION
  • Shadow and support client meetings
  • Learn client relationship building skills
  • Create polished presentation decks

CAPSTONE PROJECT
  • Develop your own event concept with coaching
  • Build a full pitch deck, production budget, and vendor plan
  • Present your final event concept to the Make It Mariko team at the end of the program

Additional Details & How to Apply

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must live in the San Francisco Bay Area, with ability to work in person at our SF Studio twice a week (typically Tuesdays and Thursdays)
  • Minimum 1-year experience with planning events (independently, with a company, or with an organization).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Google Suite (Slides, Docs, Sheets, Drive) is required.
  • Knowledge of Mailchimp, WordPress, Canva, Photoshop, or Illustrator is a plus.
  • Must have your own laptop and reliable WiFi.
  • QTPOC and Women of Color are strongly encouraged to apply.

Hiring Timeline:

  • Interviews will begin immediately for the right candidates and go until October 31, 2025

  • The duration of the Internship Program is November 3, 2025 – February 13, 2025.
