Code Of Conduct For Events
At Make It Mariko, we are committed to creating inclusive, welcoming, and inspiring event experiences. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all participants to ensure a safe and positive environment for everyone.
1. Respect and Inclusivity
We celebrate diversity in all its forms and are dedicated to fostering an environment of mutual respect. All event participants are expected to:
- Be considerate of others’ opinions, experiences, and boundaries.
- Use inclusive language that respects people’s identities, including names, pronouns, and cultural expressions.
- Treat everyone with kindness and respect, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, age, ability, or background.
2. Prohibited Conduct
We will not tolerate:
- Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind.
- Offensive or inappropriate comments, including those related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disabilities.
- Unwanted physical contact or sexual attention.
- Disruptive behavior, including yelling, threats, or intimidation.
3. Safe Spaces
We aim to create spaces where individuals can feel safe to express themselves. As such:
- Personal boundaries should always be respected. Always ask before hugging, touching, or taking photos of others.
- Alcohol consumption should be moderate and not impair respectful interactions.
- Attendees should report any concerns about safety or inappropriate behavior to designated event staff or email hello@makeitmariko.com.
4. Community Accountability
We believe in accountability and growth. Participants are expected to:
- Address any misunderstandings respectfully and seek clarification when needed.
- Take responsibility for their actions and apologize if they cause harm.
- See Something, Say Something: Support others in upholding the values of this Code of Conduct.
5. Reporting a Concern
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please:
- Notify an event organizer or staff member immediately. Staff members will be wearing identifiable badges or clothing.
- Use our confidential reporting channel by emailing hello@makeitmariko.com, calling 415-489-0143, or fill out this anonymous form: All reports will be handled promptly and the info you provide will be kept confidential.
6. Consequences of Violations
Participants asked to stop any inappropriate behavior are expected to comply immediately. Depending on the severity of the violation, Make It Mariko may take the following actions:
- Verbal warnings.
- Removal from the event without a refund.
- Ban from future events.
- In extreme cases, contacting local authorities.
