A/V Manager for Minted SF 2025

Position: Part-Time / Contract (Weekly Event Series)
Contract: July 4, 2025 – September 19, 2025 (with potential to extend). Must be available for all dates.
Location: Mint Plaza, San Francisco, CA
Reports to: Event Producer & Production Manager in collaboration with Music Curator
Compensation: $40 per hour (including weekly meeting times)

About the Role

Overview:

We’re seeking an experienced, reliable A/V Manager to lead all aspects of sound and stage setup, breakdown, and live audio management for an exciting NEW weekly event series featuring DJs & live music in San Francisco. 

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves live events, is meticulous with equipment, and thrives in fast-paced environments. You’ll be the go-to person for ensuring high-quality sound and smooth technical execution at each event. 

Key Responsibilities:

Setup & Breakdown & General Day Of Support
  • Load in and set up stage, sound, and basic lighting equipment before each event (must be able to lift heavy equipment)
  • Ensure all A/V gear is properly connected, tested, and functioning before showtime
  • Manage teardown and load-out post-event, ensuring all equipment is stored safely and securely
  • Coordinate with venue staff and production crew to ensure efficient transitions
  • Onsite Day of Coordination & general A/V support for performers and talent
  • Ensure safety of all performers 
  • General stage coordination and managing stage schedule in partnership with Music Curator
Live Sound Management
  • Operate audio console during events, ensuring high-quality sound for performers and DJs
  • Perform soundchecks with talent and troubleshoot any A/V issues that arise during events
  • Monitor audio levels and adjust in real time to maintain balance and clarity while ensuring sound volume for nearby businesses and residents are being considered
  • Support wireless mic distribution and battery management
Equipment Maintenance & Inventory
  • Maintain inventory of all A/V equipment; track damages or technical issues
  • Clean and perform basic maintenance on equipment between events
  • Report issues as they arise in order to maintain rented equipment
  • Oversee the upkeep, organization, and proper storage of all onsite A/V equipment throughout the season, ensuring gear remains in top working condition and is easily accessible for weekly use
  • Create a setup & close out checklist for each event
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Team & Communication
  • Collaborate with event producers, performers, and hosts to understand technical needs of performers ahead of time
  • Lead or work alongside assistants or tech volunteers when applicable
  • Ensure all technical aspects support the artistic and experiential goals of the event

  • Use @makeitmariko.com email for all client communications
  • Maintain and organize documents via Google Drive 
  • Professionally represent Make It Mariko at all events
  • Attend all events and act as the main point of contact for talent. Position requires evening hours during events.
  • Help promote for the event via social media, email, and in person promotions as needed

Additional Details & How to Apply

Event Season Dates:

  • Aiming for 12 total events weekly
  • Season will launch July 4, 2025 and will go for at least 12 weeks until September 19, 2025.
  • Every event will feature 4 hours of music programming including DJs, dance, and live music.

Other Key Dates:

Meetings
  • June 2025: Start attending team meetings and do Venue Site Visits as needed to practice setup plan.
  • Weekly check-ins once the event series launches on July 4, 2025 and ends on September 19, 2025 (potential to extend).
  • One final Season Debrief Meeting with the entire team.
Event Date(s) & Time(s)
  • Weekly on Fridays from 5-9pm with a goal of doing 12 events. If more budget is acquired, we’ll continue with the event. Weekly schedule as outlined below:

    2:00PM Setup begins
    4:00PM Performer Tech Checks
    5:00PM Event Begins / DJ + Free Open Dance Session
    6:00PM DJ + Music Performances
    9:00PM Event ends
    10:00PM Load out ends
